Tarots & Oracles ![]()
The Tarot is a form of occult and, some say, spiritual card deck. Originating in Italy in the 1400s, it was apparently devised for playing a trumping card game called Tarocchi. Since the 1700s it has been widely used for fortune telling and divination of the future, and it is also linked by many occult and hermetic authors to a mystical system of Hebrew Kaballah or even ancient Egyptian spiritual beliefs.

The Tarot of Hellen is dedicated to the ''secrets revealed by majestic, symbolic plants.'' In this deck, the major arcana cards are plants representing certain natural forces. Each card shows a brightly-colored painting of the plant with its name and number below. The description in the text explains the symbolic meaning of the plant and its message. The water lily grows peacefully below the surface. It tells you ''Calm down. Temperance will help you to find solutions.'' The minor arcana is divided into four families which make up the four parts of a plant: leaves, branches, flowers and grains (parts hidden in the soil). The suits also represent the four elements: fire, air, water and earth. Each court card is named after a god or goddess from Greek mythology and is shown in its plant-being guise. The instruction booklet is written by Valerie Bernard who is also named on a scroll on the Two of Flowers with AGMuller - the publisher of the Tarot of Hellen. Full English version. Price: 29,00 euro

The Royal Fez Moroccan Tarot
This tarot deck, was originally designed by the founder of MENSA, Roland Berrill. MENSA is an organization for geniuses, minimum IQ for membership is 170. At any rate, according to the booklet which comes with this deck, Berrill had a "lifelong interest in various aspects of the occult" and his particular fascination was with the tarot, and he "believed that a link existed between tarot, astrology and certain forms of gnosticism." The concept behind this deck lies in the purported history of the tarot. Many myths surround the origins of tarot, and one of those myths is illustrated here. According to the legend, the tarot symbolism was a remnant of the mystical societies in the City of Fez, Morocco. After the city fell, the symbolism fell into the hands of the Romany, also known as gypsies, and was misunderstood and so the knowledge was lost until it was deciphered many centuries later. The imagery on these tarot cards seems to be a marriage of Moroccan style and Rider-Waite imagery. According to the little white booklet, Berrill was trying to resuscitate the imagery that would have been on the cards that were used back in Fez during the heyday of that illustrious city. But except for the costumes and a few details of scenery, this deck is very much a Rider-Waite takeoff. All of the cards are drawn in very fine black and white pen-and-ink style, and then select details are colored in with primary colors, leaving the backgrounds and scenery in black and white. This draws a large amount of attention to the important details on the card. Each card is bordered in an attractive Moroccan archway shaped border in pale yellow, which makes the black and white artwork stand out even more. The Major Arcana are very traditionally Rider-Waite. Each of the Major Arcana cards is presented with the Arabic numeral under the image, except for the Fool, which is unnumbered. The Strength card is 8 and Justice is 11. The little white booklet gives the titles for these cards as being the traditional ones. The Minor Arcana are similarly untitled. Suits would correspond to the Rider-Waite, though, and the little white booklet backs that up, so we will say there are Pentacles, Swords, Cups and Wands. The numbered cards bear full scenes. The cards are not numbered either, you have to count the number of items shown in the illustration. The court cards are also the standard King, Queen, Knight and Page. English Version. The Parlour Sibyl Oracle
Late 19th century Lenormand variations include several 52 card decks which reflect shifting card-game tastes, as whist, poker, and bridge supplanted Euchre in popularity but packs with this many cards included do not usually bear Lenormand's name. The best known deck of this type is The Parlour Sibyl (also called, facetiously, "The Parisian Tarot"). It is drawn in the clever pen-and-ink style once fashionable among cartoonists and serious illustrators, and it has been skillfully coloured to bring out the deft line-work. These pretty cards feature a large pictorial scene at the center and a small inset playing card at the top of the face; the playing cards are in four suits (Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts, Spades) and are comprised of the usual 40 pip cards (A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, T) and 12 court cards (K, Q, J). The cards are also set-numbered from 1 through 52, and they bear titles in French and English as an aid to interpretation.
The meanings assigned to the cards in the Parlour Sibyl do not correspond exactly to those given in older "Lenormand" decks. Not only are there more cards, but even cards that appear in both types of deck have undergone slight shifts in interpretation. For instance, compare the 52-card Parlour Sibyl with the two 36-card Lenormand decks shown above: in the former, the Ace of Hearts (set-number 39) shows an elaborately dressed woman seated at a small circular table with pen, ink, and paper. The Ace of Hearts in the latter two card decks (set-number 28) depicts a man standing in a garden, either reading a letter he has received (in the Austrian Lenormand deck) or with no letter (in the Lenormand deck with English Rhymes. The Parlour Sibyl image is unequivocally captioned "A Love Letter. Likewise, the 9 of Clubs (set-number 8) is called Enemy in the Parlour Sibyl, rather than Fox, as in most Lenormand sets, and it shows a skulking caped figure waiting behind a wall to pounce on an unwary strolling man rather than a fox in the woods. The idea of danger is retained, but in the Parlour Sibyl, there is no suggestion of "falsity" or sly stealth, merely antagonism and aggression.

The fourth group represents work and activities that fill our days. Use this deck for divine insight into each of these important aspects of the human experience. Instructions by Isa Donelli. Oracle Ge Oracle Gé is a modern French oracle deck consisting of 61 cards. The deck was created by Gerard Barbier, and published by France Cartes in 1991.
This deck is absolutely beautiful. The card images were done in vibrant colored pencil, and the backs are black with gold concentric circles encasing a cursive letter “g.” The cards are taller and narrower than I expected, and they’re made of good quality, plastic-coated card stock. The deck includes an instruction booklet in French, English and German, outlining the individual card meanings and several different layouts.
If you’re familiar with Oracle Belline, the transition to Oracle Gé would be relatively easy since there are many similarities between the two decks. Although the symbolism of the Oracle Gé is unique, the meanings of those symbols will seem very familiar. The Belline is said to have been derived from the Lenormand Oracle, so it is not surprising that there are many similarities to that earlier deck as well. The cards of the Oracle Gé are read together in combinations much like the Lenormand and Belline. A few of the Oracle Gé cards are designed to be read both upright and reversed with modified meanings, although most of the cards are read upright only.
The feature that makes the Oracle Gé truly unique is the four cards corresponding to the four seasons of the year. The cards of the seasons are used to predict timing and duration, and can be read symbolically to denote weather, temperature, etc. Also the Gé features eight character cards to represent the various people in the querent’s life. There are the male and female consultant cards (as in the Lenormand and Belline), cards to represent a young man and young girl, cards to represent an adult man and adult woman, and finally, two cards to represent an elderly man and elderly woman.

The Tattoed Tarot
Where your tatoo is determines which card you are looking at. For the major arcanas, all the tatoos are on male chests or female backs. These tatoos are all taken from the Marseilles Tarot, but few of them are well-displayed on the cards. The host bodies do not seem to add very much to the displays. Among the suits, the tatoo for the ace is always found on the forehead. The two is on the right breast, the three on the left breast, the four on the right arm, the five on the abdomen, the six on the left arm, the seven on the right buttock, the eight on the left thigh, the nine, centered, on the lower back, directly above the buttocks, the ten on the lower back directly above the nine. The tatoos for the knaves are shown on the left shoulder blade, for the knights it is found on the right shoulder blade, and both the king and the queen are found on the nape of the neck.78 cards 2.6 x 4.74 inches (or 66 x 120 mm). Oracle Atlantide
Primitive, child-like illustrations grace the 42 cards of this original oracle deck. Santa Fé Native American Tarot deck
This deck combines the Tarot and Native American folklore. The drawings are simple line drawings with most of the figures being composed of geometric shapes. Square heads are common. There is probably a name for this style of Native American art. The Major Arcana cards have the traditional Tarot titles, but also have Native American names. The French booklet that accompanies the deck briefly describes the legend of each Native American figure. The art style and legends are allegedly Navajo in origin and the deck was designed '' after extensive research of Navajo symbology and mythology''. The Court Cards are King, Queen, Knight and Page, and like the Majors, they are also assigned N.A. names. The suits are Lightening, Rainbows, Water and Buffalo, which are Swords, Wands, Cups and Pentacles respectively. The colors of the Major Arcana are varied. The minors are colored by suit, with the court cards a deep color and the ace through ten a pastel of the same color. Lightening is yellow, Rainbows are a salmon with the A-10 in pink, Water is a dark turquoise and Buffalo is green. The designs are structured and have a calming effect; even the Tower doesn't look as ominous as it does in most decks. Price: English version on request - French version at 39,00 euro

Mlle Lenormand Cartomancy Deck from Austria
During the late 19th century, Lenormand variations proliferated. In the best known type of pack -- now generally called a "Lenormand Deck" -- there are 36 cards, arrayed in 4 suits (Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs, Spades) with 24 pip cards (A, 6, 7, 8, 9, T), and 12 court cards (K, Q, J). As with the Antique Cards of Destiny, each card is given a special meaning, but instead of human figures acting out allegorical scenes, most of the cards bear striking mnemonic images that help the reader make metaphoric interpretations. For instance, in this deck the Ace of Hearts depicts a well-dressed man in a formal garden reading a letter which might foretell a love affair ... or not... while the 9 of Clubs is a Fox that warns of potential treachery from sly, crafty associates. In addition, the cards are set-numbered in random order, as if they had been pre-shuffled, so the Ace of Hearts is set-number 28, while the 9 of Clubs is set-number 14. A replica of a beautiful early 20th century Lenormand deck from Austria, with fully painted watercolour artwork, a detailed multi-language history of Lenormand and her cards, and full instructions for card reading. 36 cards, 2 1/4" x 3 1/2", instruction booklet included.Price: 5,00 euro

Tarot of the Old Path

Italy has stood out over the centuries for beautiful Tarot decks directly derived from the first models of the fifteenth-century. Artistic talent and Italian imagination are concentrated in this deck, whose sophistication and symbolic synthesis still amaze, making it an excellent tool for divining. Renaissance Tarot by Trevisan Giorgio
Renaissance civilization might seem a long way off today, but it's not. The spirit of that time is diffused in these cards: life in castles and noble palaces, the poetry of refined courts, the hard work of common people in homes and along the roads. The glory of the knights, the intrigues of the nobles and the quarrels of the people, the spiritual anxieties of the mystics, the longing for knowledge by the magicians and alchemists are all relived in the Tarot of the Renaissance…it seems distant now but it is actually incredibly contemporary.
From Shakespeare to Leonardo da Vinci, from Louis the Sun King to Queen Elizabeth, the Renaissance was a colorful time of artistic genius and absolute monarchs. This period Tarot deck captures the artistry and diversity of an age when velvet-draped courtiers walked the marble halls of palaces while peasant farmers toiled in the fields. The spirit, the civilization, and the culture of an epoch of great artistic and cultural energy call forth from these suggestive cards. 78 cards - 66 x 120 mm

Oswald Wirth was a well-known Swiss occultist and kabbalist (1860-1943). He drew his first version of the 22 major arcana cards in 1889, basing them on the Tarot of Marseilles and other decks of the time. These cards were used to illustrate Le Tarot des Bohemiens by Papus. Wirth redrew his cards shortly thereafter, but the revised deck was not published until 1926 along with a book on the cards called Le Tarot des imagiers du moyen-age in 1927. This book was translated into English in 1985 as The Tarot of the Magicians. The minor arcana cards are not the work of Wirth himself, but have been created to match his cards in style and spirit. The Oswald Wirth Tarot is brightly colored with a metallic sheen. The titles, suits and court card names are in French, but English correspondences are given in the short instruction booklet. Each major arcana card is assigned one of the 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet. The card numbers are given in roman numerals. Brand new deck available but prices on request.

When life seems to be full of doubt and uncertainty we tend to look for a source of inspiration: what will happen in the future? What about my health, the children? What will happen if I make this decision and not that one? This is how the traditional tarot is often used, to satisfy a longing to know about the past and future. This Osho Zen Tarot focuses instead on gaining an understanding of the here and now. It is a system based on the wisdom of Zen, a wisdom that says events in the outer world simply reflect in the outer world simply reflect our own thoughts and feelings, even though we ourselves might be unclear about what those thoughts and feelings are. So it helps us to turn our attention away from outside events so we can find a new clarity of understanding in our innermost hearts. The conditions and states of mind portrayed by the contemporary images on the cards are all shown as being essentially transitional and transformative. The text in the accompanying book helps to interpret and understand the images in the simple, straightforward and down to earth language of Zen. Price: 29,00 euro

Karma Angel Cards
The Karma Angels determine our earthly journey. In the Hindu tradition, Karma means 'action', both mental and physical, and regards our entire period of existence: The one we are experiencing as well as previous lives. According to this interpretation, we ourselves are the creators of our fortune as well as our misfortune: This reality however is defied by most of mankind, which, rather, attributes the source of pleasure and sorrow to chance and external events. The key to living peacefully, therefore, is knowing how to love everything and everyone. Deck in English. Price: 9,00 euro

What has presided over the choice of the gods and ideograms printed on this tarot deck is the necessity to have a web of symbolic signs to help illuminate the mysteries present in oneself, the others and the future. For each card you will find comments that do not betray the data provided by Egyptology.
This deck is based on ancient Egyptian symbolism. The cards are designed to be used for divination, meditation, healing, talismanic magic, and initiation into the universal archetypal symbols. The oracle features authentic symbols copied exactly from the tombs and temples of ancient Egypt. The leaflet provided with this tarot offers five proposals to read the cards. You just need to look at the cards and read the interprétations to let the relations between the cards tell what they have to say.
This beautiful deck comprises 80 cards divided into 3 parts: hieroglyphs, gods and ideograms. The graphic design derives from the frescoes of Ancient Egypt. This game is a fine dcument, meant to answer the questions each one may ask himself: some key-words are written at the bottom of each card.

Angel's voice Oracle
Angel Voices KIT - Book + deck
The angels join their voices with other voices from the heavenly spheres in this exciting oracle. Laura Tuan combines the meanings of the stars and planets with the wisdom and power of angels. Learn to hear the angel voices and see what marvelous things the heavens hold for you. 80 card deck and 160 page book.
This set is based on the 72 Names of God, or Shemhamephoresh, a medieval Kabbalistic method in which a certain 3 Exodus Bible verses of 72 Hebrew letters each were written one on top of the other. Reading from top to bottom, 72 3-letter "names" were created. (The 3-Hebrew-letter names are used in the 72 Names of God by Rav Berg of the Kabbalah Centre of Madonna fame.) Christian Cabbalists Latinized these names and added "el" or "iah" to create angel names. Each angel is associated with a Psalms Bible verse, which gives the angel its specific meanings and "gifts." Each angel is also associated with a 5 degree portion of the astrological year (approximately 5 days).
Cards are numbered consecutively 1 through 80 (72 angels plus 7 archangels and the Angelic Palace). The angels are divided into 9 groups of 8 angels. Each group (called a "formation") is associated with a planet. Then each angel within the group is associated with a planet, so each angel has two planet symbols on its card, the formation planet on the left top and the angel planet on the right top. The 7 archangels and Angelic Palace have one planet each.
For each card/angel, the book provides a Keyword, Areas Concerned (study, love, etc.), Gifts (ways the angel helps people), Divinatory Significance, and Relevant Time Period (the 5-day period plus the days of the week ruled by the card's planets).
The book also provides brief divinatory sentences for each card for 10 pre-set spread positions. One spread has these 7 positions: person[ality], emotions, body, love, success, fortune, tests. Another spread has these 3 positions: talents, problem, outcome.
But the most interesting spreads (called "oracles") take advantage of the consecutive numbering of the cards. With the Oracle of Light and Shadow, you draw, say, card 21 to represent an issue, and then count to the 21st card after that to represent the "shadow" of that issue. With the Oracle of the Four Directions, you lay out a card for each direction and then average the card numbers (add and divide by four) to get the outcome card.
